Establish Your Foundation in God’s Word

Week 2 – Day 1

Establish Your Foundation in God’s Word

Story

When Marcus woke up, his phone was the first thing he reached for, email, headlines, notifications, everything but Scripture. By mid-morning, he already felt scattered and anxious. That week, his pastor challenged the church: “Before you scroll, let God speak.” The next day Marcus decided to try. He poured coffee, left his phone in the other room, and opened to Proverbs. At first his mind wandered, and he felt the nagging pull of FOMO, but then a verse about God giving wisdom to the upright stood out to him. As he read slowly and prayed it back to God, his mind began to slow down and he felt at ease. The problems of the day didn’t disappear, but they were now in their correct place in the presence of a greater voice. For the first time in a long while, he felt like his feet were on solid ground before stepping into the day with a focused mind and still heart.

Scripture

“For Yahweh gives wisdom.
Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.” (Proverbs 2:6)

Application

Beginning your day in God’s Word is not about earning spiritual points; it’s about settling your heart and mind in God before the noise begins. When you choose Scripture before screens, you are declaring, “Your voice comes first.” Today, you’re laying a foundation, choosing a time and place that you will protect for meeting God in His Word. Over time, this simple habit becomes the anchor for every decision you face.

Daily Challenge

Action: Choose a regular time and place for daily Scripture reading. Read Proverbs 2:6 and ask God to give you a heart that treasures His wisdom above anything else.

Prayer: “Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things out of your law” (Psalm 119:18). Amen.
