Apply Scripture to One Decision
Week 2 – Day 5
Story
Alina and her husband were agonizing over a financial decision of whether to take on more debt for a “dream house” or buy something more affordable. They prayed, but their prayers mainly sounded like, “Lord, please let this work.” One evening, they decided to sit down with Scripture first, and read passages about contentment, stewardship, and caring for the vulnerable. Words about being free from the love of money and being generous toward others stood out. As they talked and prayed through those verses, they sensed a quiet conviction: this house would stretch them so thin that generosity and rest would suffer. It wasn’t necessarily “sinful,” but it also wasn’t wise. In light of Scripture, they chose a simpler option and later saw how God used the decision for ministry and peace.
Scripture
“Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors.” (Psalm 119:24)
Application
Today, bring one decision into the light of God’s Word. Rather than asking the Bible to confirm what you already want, let it question, direct, and speak to you. This practice helps you to see Scripture as your counselor in real time, not just as source of inspiration. The goal is not to find a verse that mentions your exact situation, but to discern principles that clearly speak to your motives, priorities, and next steps.
Daily Challenge
Action: Take one significant decision and spend time in the Word about it. Read related passages, note observations, and meditate on at least three biblical principles that should influence your choice.
Prayer: God, I submit this decision to what You have spoken. Lead me in Your truth. Amen.
