Assess Your Advisory Circle

Week 4 – Day 1

Assess Your Advisory Circle

Story

Lena realized that whenever she felt stuck, she mostly turned inward and retreated from her social group, or she’d go to social media. She scrolled advice threads, listened to podcasts, and read articles, but rarely invited people who actually knew her walk with God to speak into her life. After a season of confusion, she sat down with a notebook and wrote the names of those she typically “checked decisions with.” The list surprised her: coworkers, online voices, acquaintances, but only one or two mature believers who truly loved God and loved her. She sensed the Spirit nudging, “You need voices that know My Word and know your heart.” This easy checklist became the starting point for deciding who she let influence her.

Scripture

“Walk with wise men, and you will be wise, but a companion of fools will suffer harm.” (Proverbs 13:20)

Application

Wise counsel begins with considering who speaks into your life. Today, stop and assess whether the people you trust are spiritually mature, biblically grounded, and genuinely loving. This is not about judging others, but about recognizing who God has placed in your life as trustworthy guides. Evaluating this circle prepares you to seek counsel with intent rather than haphazardly.

Daily Challenge

Action: List the people you currently go to for advice. Prayerfully evaluate whether they demonstrate spiritual maturity, biblical grounding, and genuine love for you.

Prayer: Lord, show me whom You have placed in my life to speak Your wisdom, and where I need new or deeper relationships. Amen.
