Review a Recent Decision’s Impact

Week 5 – Day 2

Review a Recent Decision’s Impact

Story

Chloe had said yes to a new commitment simply because it felt flattering and urgent. Only later did she realize how much time and emotional energy it would cost. When she read about tracing a decision’s impact 1, 5, and 10 years out, she decided to test it on that choice. She imagined the effects on her walk with God, her marriage, and her ministry over time, less rest, more resentment, fewer unhurried conversations. It was sobering. She could see that what felt like a small “yes” today could become a heavy burden tomorrow. That process led her to step back from the commitment, with humility, and to ask more careful questions before saying yes in the future.

Scripture

“The prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple pass on, and suffer for it.” (Proverbs 22:3)

Application

Long-term thinking asks, “If I keep moving in this direction, where will I likely end up?” Today, consider the likely fruit of a recent choice, near and far. This exercise is not about predicting every detail, but about letting God show you patterns: Is this leading toward deeper love for Him and others, or toward exhaustion, compromise, and regret?

Daily Challenge

Action: Take a recent decision and trace its likely impact 1, 5, and 10 years from now, especially spiritually and relationally. Ask whether it aligns with the vision you wrote yesterday.

Prayer: Father, show me where my choices are leading, and realign me wherever I’ve drifted. Amen.
