Commit Your Future to God

Week 5 – Day 6

Commit Your Future to God

Story

Carla often made choices based on what would make the next week easier: saying yes to extra work, skipping rest, avoiding hard conversations. One day, she read Jesus’ question in Matthew 16:26 and felt it land like a personal invitation: What are you gaining, and what might you be losing? She began a new habit: before major choices, she quietly asked, “How will this look from eternity’s viewpoint?” That question reshaped everything from how she spent her evenings to how she handled conflict. Some decisions became harder in the short term, but a strange peace grew as she chose what would matter most before Christ’s throne.

Scripture

“For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his life?” (Matthew 16:26)

Application

Eternity thinking does not ignore present needs; it places them in their proper scale. Today, for each significant choice, ask how it will look in light of forever, your relationship with God, your family, and His kingdom. This practice helps you resist the pull of immediate payoff when it conflicts with lasting faithfulness.

Daily Challenge

Action: For each significant choice today, ask, “How will this look from eternity’s viewpoint?” Reflect on Jesus’ question, “What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life?” (Matthew 16:26).

Prayer: Father, don’t let me trade eternal joy for temporary gain. Amen.
