Consult God’s Word as You Commit
Week 7 – Day 2
Story
Jasmine felt a growing desire to make a major career change to invest more directly in ministry. Excitement mixed with fear stopped her in her tracks: “What if I’m being reckless?” Before rushing ahead or shutting the idea down, she remembered the call to make decisions based in Scripture. She spent several evenings in passages about calling, stewardship, generosity, and laboring for what truly lasts. Verses about seeking first God’s kingdom and working heartily for the Lord began to create a picture in her mind. As she weighed the change through the perspective of Scripture, some options didn’t fit, while others began to make sense. Scripture didn’t print a job description for her, but it clarified the commitments that would align with God’s heart.
Scripture
“Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.” (Psalm 119:105)
Application
Commitment that trusts God’s sovereignty is never detached from His Word. Today, bring one commitment or desire under the light of Scripture, asking not just, “Is this allowed?” but “Is this what You value?” Letting the Bible influence your commitments helps you trust that the path you walk has been lit by His truth, not just by your impulses.
Daily Challenge
Action: Set aside time to search Scripture specifically for guidance in current decisions. Read from Proverbs, Psalms, or other wisdom passages and ask, “What does God’s Word say about what I am facing?” Apply at least one biblical principle to a current choice and keep a key verse visible.
Prayer: Lord, let Your Word guide not only my choices, but the commitments I make with my life. Amen.
