Seek Wise Counsel Before You Decide
Week 7 – Day 4
Story
Ruth was ready to move forward on a major financial decision. She had prayed, read Scripture, and run the numbers. It all seemed to make sense, and yet a gentle prompt from the Spirit kept nudging her: “Invite trusted believers into your process.” She realized she hadn’t. Reluctantly, she reached out to a spiritually mature friend and their small group leader. As they listened, they affirmed much of her thinking, but also raised a concern she hadn’t seen, how this choice might strain her capacity to serve where God had clearly called her. Their perspective didn’t dictate her final answer, but it did help her refine it. She walked away grateful that God’s sovereignty often comes to her not only through inner peace, but through the body of Christ.
Scripture
“Where there is no wise guidance, the nation falls, but in the multitude of counselors there is victory.” (Proverbs 11:14)
Application
Trusting God includes trusting the ways He has chosen to guide you, through His people. Today, invite wise counsel into at least one pending decision, not as a formality after you’ve already decided, but as part of discernment. Listening well to godly voices is an act of faith in the God who speaks through His body.
Daily Challenge
Action: Invite trusted believers into your process. Share at least one current decision with a spiritually mature friend, mentor, or leader and ask for their biblical perspective. If you lack such relationships, take a step toward building them (join a group, reach out to a pastor, reconnect with a mature believer).
Prayer: Lord, speak through Your people. Give me humility to hear and courage to obey. Amen.
